5. Cookies, Google Analytics and Meta Pixel
Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate effectively and to help us understand how visitors use our website.
5.1 Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device that allow a website to recognise your browser and capture certain information. We may use session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain on your device until deleted) for purposes such as remembering your preferences, enabling website functionality and analysing website traffic. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies; however, doing so may affect the functionality of our website.
5.2 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect information about how visitors use our website, such as pages viewed, time spent on the site, referring websites and general location data. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to generate this information, which is transmitted to and processed by Google in accordance with Google’s privacy and terms of use policies. This information is used in an aggregated and, where possible, de-identified form to help us improve our website and Services. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your cookie settings.
5.3 Meta Pixel
Where used, the Meta Pixel is a piece of code that allows us to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Meta platforms (such as Facebook and Instagram) and to understand the actions people take on our website after viewing our advertisements. The Meta Pixel may collect information such as pages visited, device and browser information, and actions taken on our website. This information is handled by Meta in accordance with its own data policy. You can manage your ad preferences and opt out of interest-based advertising through your Meta account settings or your browser’s cookie controls.
6. Data storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include:
- Using secure, access-controlled systems and cloud infrastructure provided by reputable third parties (including Google) to store and process data;
- Limiting access to personal information to personnel and contractors who require it to perform their role;
- Requiring our service providers and integration partners to maintain appropriate security standards under their own terms of service; and
- Reviewing and updating our security practices as appropriate.
While we take reasonable steps to protect personal information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to affected individuals, we will comply with our obligations under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme in the Privacy Act, including notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where required.
7. Retention and deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy any legal, accounting, contractual or reporting requirements.
When personal information is no longer needed for these purposes, we will take reasonable steps to destroy the information or ensure that it is de-identified, unless we are required or permitted by law to retain it for a longer period (for example, to meet taxation, corporate record-keeping or dispute resolution obligations).
8. Access and correction requests
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to request that we correct any information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.
To make an access or correction request, please contact us using the details in section 9 below. We will respond to your request within a reasonable period, and in most cases within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before providing access to, or correcting, your personal information.
There may be circumstances in which we are permitted by law to refuse a request for access or correction. If we refuse a request, we will provide you with reasons for the refusal and information about how you may complain about the refusal, unless it would be unreasonable to do so.
We will not charge a fee for you to make a request for access to or correction of your personal information, though we may charge a reasonable fee for giving access, which will be advised to you in advance.
